March 23, 2020 Dear Hope Family, Today, Governor Tony Evers ordered Wisconsinites to stay at home this week to fend off the COVID-19 outbreak. The safer-at-home order requires all workers in the state to work remotely or potentially lose their jobs by closing all workplaces that aren't deemed essential. Restaurants and bars will stay open but only for delivery and curbside pick-up orders. What does all of this mean for our Hope United Church of Christ family? 1. The staff and I will deliver worship over the web on Sunday morning. Check the eNews later this week for worship materials, including the sermon. I will continue to offer check-ins throughout the week. 2. The office will close immediately. Mindy and I will work remotely and continue to check voice messages, email, and process snail mail and deliveries. I will remain available for pastoral emergencies 24/7, though restrictions may mean I may not be able to enter some facilities. 3. The deacons and other volunteers will continue to reach out to our members during this time when we cannot physically be together. This includes emails and phone calls to check-in, especially with those without internet access. 4. Losing Sunday collections, especially around Easter, will have a significant impact on our ability to do ministry in the future. Please consider mailing your offerings and gifts (Hope Church, 141 South 12th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay WI 54235) or giving electronically ( (https://www.faithstreet.com/church/hope-sturgeon-bay-wi/giving) Please continue to hold everyone who is working to keep things going in these trying time in your thoughts and prayers. While you might be tempted to do something, I urge you to keep yourself, family and community safe by staying home to #StopTheSpread of COVID-19. Blessings, Gary The Rev. J.
