Dear Hope Community,
I saw a post on Facebook that our grandparents were called to war and now we are called to sit on our couches. We can do this! However this order comes with its own challenges, especially for our active community of Hope. We look forward to being with each other, on Sunday mornings, at meetings or social activities such as the Romeos or the Juliets. But, for the time being, we need to carry on in a different way.
Last night, the Church Council met on Zoom. The group consisted of board and committee chairs, Gary and me totaling 10 people. Oddly enough, it seemed like a fairly normal council meeting as we conducted some necessary business items. Most importantly, we had an opportunity to share how each of the groups is carrying on its mission during this time.
Just to name a few, we heard about how the Hope Care Team, a project of the deacons and other volunteers, is reaching out to our entire membership. We learned how the safety committee continues to improve our practices to ensure the health and safety of the church. We all expressed our great appreciation to the entire staff for scrambling to bring us online children’s stories and Sunday morning worship.
Obviously, many things are postponed until we can be together again in person. But please rest assured the boards and committees are committed to doing the work of the church, even during this challenging time for all.
Stay well,
Ann Jinkins
