Two different Advent devotionals are available. “A New Earth” comes from the United Church of Christ and continues the theme of Love of Creation. Also new this year is an ecumenical Advent Devotional containing contributions from local pastors, including Gary. It represents the full spectrum of Christian belief, from progressive to fundamentalist. We ask that you take only one copy of each devotional per household, as quantities are limited.
On December 9th, Gary will offer a program on the Nativity narratives through the lens of history and contemporary theologies. We’ll gather at 5:30 pm for dinner, followed by the program at 6:00 pm, and ending at 7:00 pm so families can get little ones to bed. Childcare is provided.
On Sunday, December 15th, our youth will take the lead with Advent worship and our Christmas Pageant. At 6:00 pm that evening, we will once again hold a Blue Christmas service. This worship recognizes that, for some, Christmas can fall during a time of grief or remind us of loss and sadness.
Finally, of course, will be our Christmas Eve extravaganza of music, celebration, and light! The following Sunday, December 29th, we’ll dedicate a little extra time to singing the carols we all know and love.
NOTE: To make it easier for working families to participate in the December 9th adult formation event, we will provide dinner and childcare. If you are on our approved list for childcare or are willing to provide help with a family-friendly meal, please contact Gary.
